A code is a starting point, not a diagnosis. A misfire code tells you the engine is misfiring, not whether it is a coil, a plug, an injector or a vacuum leak. I read the codes, look at live data and the freeze-frame values from the moment the fault happened, and test what the data points at. Nothing gets replaced to see if it helps.
Most of a diagnostic is scanning, testing and looking, so it does not need a lift or a perfectly level pad. A driveway, a workplace lot or street parking all work. If the symptom only shows up while driving, I road test it, and if it only happens cold, tell me and we will book early.
You get the findings in plain language and an exact, parts-included price for the repair. Most of it I can fix on the spot or on a return visit with the parts. If it genuinely needs a lift or a machine shop, I will say so and tell you roughly what it should cost, so you walk into a shop knowing what you are dealing with.

Can you diagnose it if the car will not start?
Yes. That is one of the main reasons to call a mobile mechanic. The vehicle does not need to move or be driveable for me to test it.
My check engine light is flashing — can I still drive it?
No. A flashing light usually means an active misfire, and raw fuel going into a hot catalytic converter destroys it in a short drive. Park it and call me — I will come to the vehicle.
Do I have to have the repair done by you?
No. You get the findings and an exact price either way, with no pressure. Most people have me do the work because I am already there with the tools.
What if it is something you cannot fix in a driveway?
I will tell you straight. Most things I can do mobile. If yours needs a lift, a press or a machine shop, I will say so and tell you what it should cost so you are not walking in blind.
