Parking dictates the job in the older parts of town. Midtown and the grid are mostly street parking and narrow alleys, so for anything that needs the vehicle on stands for a few hours — brakes, suspension, a gear job — it works far better at a workplace lot, a friend's driveway in Land Park or Curtis Park, or a garage. Tell me where the vehicle actually sits and I will tell you honestly whether the job can be done there.
Out in Natomas, North Natomas and the Pocket, driveways are wide and flat and almost anything is workable on site, including full lift installs and gear work.
Summer heat drives most of what I see between June and September: cooling systems that were marginal all winter finally letting go, and brake fluid that has quietly absorbed moisture for six years giving up on a long descent. If your temperature gauge has crept up even once in traffic on Business 80, get it pressure tested before it costs you a head gasket.
